Eat, Drink and Be Scary was a huge success

We ate, we drank and tried to be scary! We raised lots of money for Heroes for Children. Here are some of the images that were taken by Jim Herndon of On Location Portraiture. Click here to see the slideshow.

Bye Bye State of Fair of Texas - till next year

Hickory Street Annex is walking distance to the Fair. We are sad to see it go (except for the traffic). I don't understand how this was done, but I think it is a beautiful farewell to the State Fair of Texas. This video was made by Jim Herndon of On Location Portraiture with a regular camera and not a video camera. It is basically tons of still photos put together to look like a film. If you are a photo nerd you can read all about it on his blog. If you could somehow play it in slow motion perhaps you could see Oprah eating fried butter!

Kate & Brandon

I love getting photos from beautiful events, but sometimes the photographers are busy and I am not a paying customer! So I was thrilled to get photos from Kate & Brandon's wedding from last December taken by the talented Lindsey Shea of Lindsey Shea Photography. During the reception Kate surprised Brandon with a gospel choir!

Kate should really look at a career in modeling! The couple now lives in Chicago where she is an interior designer. Click here to see more photos of Kate & Brandon.

Sweet Kiss Photography

A few months ago I had the privilege of meeting Marcy Bartholow of Sweet Kiss Photo. Marcy is about as professional as a photographer can get, she has an Master of Fine Art in photography and has even worked as a photography professor.  Her beautiful work is exhibited in various galleries and museums.

She is new to town and somehow stumbled across Hickory Street Annex and sent me an email.  She offered to come by the Annex and snap a few shots of the empty space.  I am ashamed to admit that was February and I am just now posting these great shots.  I don't get a lot of images of the space empty or during the daytime, so these are great to have.

Some of you that have seen the space lately will notice that our floors are no longer painted white, they have been polished and are now natural concrete.

Wilson The Wedding Crasher

This photo of Wilson was taken by one of our newest tenants, Adam Fish of Fish Fotography.  He is a commercial photographer that is represented by another one of our tenants, Those 3 Reps.

In case you don't know, Wilson is Gary Kaelson's standard poodle.  Wilson thinks he is human!  Maybe because Gary spoils him.

Once, Wilson came upstairs unexpectedly just before a wedding ceremony and almost crashed the wedding.

Brides of North Texas

The nice girls over at Brides of North Texas posted this recently about the Annex on their blog:

"Venue With A Green Factor - After visiting the Hickory Street Annex event space, we had to share this unique spot! The space is a perfect blank canvas for any wedding day transformation.  Also, we love the "green" factor!  The sapce has reclaimed architectural elements, uses recycled paper goods and has 100 percent wind-powered electricity.  Also, for every event they make a contribution to www.americanforest.org to plant trees  in an area in need of restoration."

Blue Lotus Design

Brianne Denton with Blue Lotus Designs did the flowers for Andrea's wedding last month.  Her approach is fresh and modern.  Curly willow flanked the altar area with a curly willow cross suspended above.  The coolest thing were the fish bowls at the bar, Brianne's husband does koi ponds and landscaping so the two of the collaborated on this event (they were much larger than they look in the photo).  This gives new meaning to "drink like a fish!"

Nice Reflection

Jim Herndon, with On Location Portraiture, took this photo of Nicole in front of Building B.  This is one of Gary's favorite images taken on his property, not just because she is so gorgeous but because of the nice reflection in his office window. Jim says he has shot many portraits around this same area but never did notice the reflection. (click on the photo above to see more of Jim's recent bridal portraits)

If you want a photo shoot at Hickory Street Annex, the price is $75 per hour and you can have use of the bride's room for changing and hair and makeup.  If you book an event with us, the fee is waived. We have lots of bridal portraits, engagement portraits, kids, families, etc. done here. You can use your own photographer or give Jim a call!
